Dating Smart: Your Safety Guide
Last Updated: December 2025
At Diamour, we are obsessed with creating a secure environment for you to find love. We verify profiles and monitor activity, but safety is a partnership. While we protect the digital space, you control your personal interactions.
Here are the core rules to protecting your heart, your data, and your peace of mind while dating.
1. Keep It on the App (For a While)
We know the urge to move to WhatsApp or iMessage is strong, but we recommend keeping conversations on Diamour for the first few weeks.
Why? Our systems can detect and block scammers sending harmful links or abusive language. Once you move off the app, our safety tools can no longer protect you.
The Rule: If someone pushes aggressively to leave the app immediately after matching, be cautious.
2. The Golden Rule: Never Send Money
This is the most important rule of online dating. Never, under any circumstances, send money to someone you haven’t met in person.
Common Scams: Watch out for stories about "emergency medical bills," "visa issues," "frozen bank accounts," or "lucrative crypto investment opportunities."
The Reality: A genuine person interested in a relationship will never ask a stranger for money. If they ask, report them immediately.
3. Verify Before You Catch Feelings
Photos can be misleading. Before you get emotionally invested or agree to meet:
Video Call: Use Diamour’s in-app video call feature. It’s a safe way to verify they look like their profile without exchanging phone numbers.
The Excuse: If their camera is "always broken" or they refuse to video chat for weeks, they are likely a catfish or hiding something. Move on.
4. Protect Your Personal Details
You wouldn’t hand your house keys to a stranger on the street. Treat your personal data the same way.
- Wait: Don't share your home address, work address, or daily routine (e.g., "I go to this specific gym every Tuesday") until you have built significant trust.
- Documents: Never share photos of your passport, driver's license, or BVN/Social Security Number.
5. Meeting in Real Life (IRL)
Meeting up is the goal! But the first few meetings should always follow these protocols:
- Public Places Only: Meet at a coffee shop, restaurant, or mall. Avoid private homes, hotels, or secluded areas for the first few dates.
- Tell a Friend: Share your live location via WhatsApp or iMessage with a trusted friend or family member. Let them know who you are meeting and when you expect to be back.
- Own Your Transport: Drive yourself or take an Uber/Bolt. Do not let your date pick you up from your home on the first date.
6. Respect Your Gut Instincts
Your intuition is your best bodyguard.
- If a conversation makes you uncomfortable, end it.
- If they are moving too fast (saying "I love you" in 2 days), slow down.
- If something feels "off," it probably is.
You don't owe anyone an explanation. You are free to unmatch, block, and leave a situation at any time.
7. Zero Tolerance for Abuse
Diamour is a community of respect. We do not tolerate:
- Harassment or bullying.
- Unsolicited sexual content.
- Hate speech or tribalism.
If you experience this, please use the "Report" shield icon on their profile immediately. We review every report manually and take action to keep the community clean.
8. Child Safety
Diamour is strictly for adults (18+). We have zero tolerance for minors on our platform or any form of child exploitation.
Our Policy: Any account found to belong to a minor or involved in the solicitation of minors will be permanently banned and reported to relevant authorities (e.g., NCMEC).
How to Report: If you suspect a user is under 18 or you see any concerning behavior involving minors, you can report it directly in the app. Go to the user's profile, tap the Report (Shield Icon), and select "Child Safety". This prioritizes the report for immediate investigation by our safety team.
